Understanding the Generation of the Lord’s Return
The generation of the Lord’s return is the most described in all of Scripture. More than 150 chapters in the Bible focus on the dynamics surrounding the return of Jesus and the events leading up to it. The Bible speaks more about this future generation than any other, including the generation of His first coming. This should alert us: God wants His people equipped, prepared, and anchored in His Word as the shaking of the nations increases.
This generation will witness both the greatest crisis and the greatest revival in human history. Darkness and glory will clash on an unprecedented level. Jesus described this generation in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13, detailing the signs that would mark the days just before His return—wars, famines, persecution, false prophets, and the love of many growing cold. Yet in the same passages, He promised that the gospel of the kingdom would be preached to all nations, and the faithful would be saved.
Why would God highlight this generation with such clarity? Because He intends to raise up a victorious Church, a Bride made ready. The Lord doesn’t want us to be confused or paralyzed by fear. Instead, He wants us to walk in clarity, sobriety, and hope. This means leaning into Scripture and becoming people of understanding who can rightly interpret the times and point others to the hope of His return.
Our response must not be passive. We are invited to live differently—to prioritize prayer, worship, fasting, and biblical literacy so we may shine amid the shaking. In a world that will grow increasingly unstable, the people of God must be rooted, unshakable, and radiant with love. This is the generation that will partner with Jesus in the greatest harvest and revival history has ever known. We were born for such a time as this.
