Jesus in the End-Time Scriptures: The Warrior-King

Many people today are familiar with Jesus as the Lamb who was slain—the compassionate Savior, the Good Shepherd, the One who heals and forgives. But the Scriptures also reveal another dimension of His character: Jesus as the Warrior-King who will return to judge the nations and establish His kingdom on the earth. This revelation is essential to understanding the full picture of who He is—and it is central to the end-time narrative.

The book of Revelation doesn’t present a tame or passive Messiah. It unveils the risen, reigning Jesus in all His glory and authority. Revelation 19:11–16 describes Him as a rider on a white horse, called Faithful and True, who judges and wages war in righteousness. His eyes are like fire, His robe is dipped in blood, and on His thigh is written, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

This is not a contradiction to His identity as the Lamb—it is the fullness of it. The Lamb who was slain is also the Lion of the tribe of Judah. His mercy and His justice are not in competition. In the end, He will remove everything that hinders love and establish righteousness across the earth.

Psalm 2 foretells this kingship with power. God declares: “I have set My King on Zion, My holy hill.” The nations rage, but God’s response is not panic—it is the enthronement of His Son. Jesus will rule with a rod of iron, not to crush the humble, but to confront rebellion and bring peace.

Isaiah 63 presents another profound and sobering image: the Messiah coming from Edom, with garments stained from treading the winepress of wrath. This is not imagery meant to frighten but to awaken us. It’s a prophetic declaration that Jesus will personally confront evil and restore justice. He is not indifferent to sin, oppression, or injustice—He is coming to make all things right.

Understanding Jesus as the Warrior-King gives us confidence in His leadership. It means that no matter how dark the world becomes, our King is not passive. He is returning with power to bring justice, to reward the righteous, and to remove wickedness from the earth.

At King’s House DFW, we believe the Church must preach and worship Jesus in the fullness of His identity. He is not just coming to rescue us—He is coming to reign. And when we see Him as He is, our worship changes, our lives change, and our boldness grows.

Now is the time to behold Him through the lens of Scripture—not just as He was, but as He is and as He is coming. The Church is not waiting for an escape—we’re preparing for a King.
